It also benefits from the correct rear wheel and original travel kit and hard top. The braking system has been renovated back in the USA and the classic V8 engine, we are informed, presents in mint condition and runs perfectly. Considerable expenditure has been focused here complete with new chrome elements and original upholstery although the softtop material is missing. The old paintwork was removed using a chemical and mechanical process. Restored in recent years back in the USA, it was stripped and re-painted in the original factory colour scheme of Pistachio Green and White. Porthole windows were added to the hardtop as a no-cost option. The 1956 model freed up more boot space by mounting the spare wheel outside as well as moving the exhausts to the ends of the bumper and cabin ventilation was improved. It thus remained in production right up to 2005 in one form or another. Sleek in styling, and already sporting the 292ci, V8 engine that has proved itself over previous generations, this brisk luxury tourer proved hugely popular possibly due to the fact that its emphasis relied more on driver comfort rather than speed. ![]() The T-Bird could be considered the very back-bone of American youth culture. Completely stripped and repainted in factory ‘Pistachio/white’.
